Drew Lockwood, 23 - is a Brown Belt under Eric Williams and Hai Nguyen of Elite MMA – Westheimer. Self-described
as having a complete passion for the game, Drew has been training for over eight years now starting when he was fifteen years old. Drew now spends the majority of his time as an instructor at Elite, where he teaches both gi and no-gi grappling. Asked why he wanted to be on this team, Drew mentioned wanting to make a dedicated push to compete
and win at the highest levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as his number one goal.
Jason Soliz, 21- is a Brown Belt under Professor Joe Soliz of 3rd Coast MMA. Under the tutelage of his father, Jason has been training in Martial Arts since he was eight years old and started competing in the mens divisions at BJJ tourneys when he was just 12 years old …and 205 pounds! Jason would go on to compete and win the Pan-Ams as a blue belt at 170 and now fights in the under 167 division. Jason currently instructs classes at 3rd Coast MMA (kid, adults, fitness) and hopes to one day be able to transfer his passion for competition to the next generation of martial artists when he himself is no longer competing. Until then, Jason’s goal is to be the best competitor he can be by representing martial arts with the humility, dedication, and perseverance.
Julian Vega, 22 - is a Brown Belt under Jordan Rivas of Elite MMA – Baytown. Initially getting exposed to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu due to an interest in MMA, Julian’s first reaction to jiu-jitsu was one where he didn’t “want to wear a karate suit and wrestle with the guys.” Almost three years later and Julian now does jiu-jitsu full-time, having fallen in love with the sport. In fact, he literally spends his waking hours from 11am to 9pm in the gym. His mindset now is that he cannot imagine what he would do in his life if it weren’t for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His world revolves around his main goal to keep perfecting his game and become the best athlete he can be. It’s a tough life living the jiu jitsu lifestyle, he says, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
We are starting a new series of Jiu-Jitsu/ Grappling tournaments that will be coming to a city near you! With all
of our experience and listening to competitors and coaches from all over, we have taken our ideas and their suggestions and have created ZTS Tournament Series. There will be Gi and No Gi divisions. The tournaments will have the highest quality equipment, great referees, some fun twists and all at an affordable price. We want to offer competitors a chance to compete and have fun and not have to break the bank but without compromising quality and the level of competition.
Introducing Team ZTS of Texas. These athletes are sponsored by Zebra Tournament Systems of Texas, Zebra Mats, Fuji, and TXMMA.com. You can meet them at our tournaments to ask them firsthand how they feel about our support that helps them to continue to do what they love which is to train hard and put their skills to the test at competitions. As of right now we do not have a full team so
we continue to lookout for talented athletes with similiar characteristics to possibly add to the team. We will also be creating new teams in other states in the future as well.

Caine Menn, 13 - is a Green Belt under Paul Thomas of Paul Thomas BJJ. He is currently in 8th grade. A passionate competitor, Cain has played sports for the majority of his life - focusing on baseball as a select player before falling in love with combat sports. Since watching the UFC for the very first time, Cain has tried his hand at judo, kickboxing, and wrestling in addition to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and now trains six days a week. He has always entered BJJ competitions in the advanced division and has fought up in weight class numerous times. Amongst his many goals, he hopes to one day fight in the UFC and hopes to reach that goal by the age of eighteen.
Andrew Ramirez, 14 - is a Yellow Belt under ZTS.
He is currently a freshman in Highschool at Cinco Ranch in Katy, where he is on the wrestling team. He started training in Kickboxing with Alex Cisne from Gracie Barra Katy a little under 2 years ago and then started training Jiu Jitsu under Paul Thomas of Paul Thomas BJJ 6 months after that. He entered his first
Jiu Jitsu tournament just two months into training and won first place in his division. Andrew was a competitive gymnast for years, which has given him a strong base. With his coaches stating that he is a gifted athlete he quickly picked up the sport and continues to grow into
a well rounded competitor.
